An Giang handles 24 violations related to wildlife and aquatic resources

An Giang - Functional forces have handled 24 violations related to the management and protection of wildlife, migratory birds and the field of protecting aquatic resources.

On the afternoon of March 16, the Ministry of Public Security coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to organize an online conference to summarize the implementation of Plan No. 628 on coordinating propaganda, fighting, and handling violations of the law related to the protection of wild animals and aquatic resources.

Over the past time, under the direction of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the police force at all levels has promoted its core role, proactively coordinating with functional forces to synchronously implement many solutions in propaganda, prevention, detection and combat of violations of the law related to wildlife protection and aquatic resources.

The Police force has closely coordinated with the agricultural sector and local authorities to review the area, identify key routes, locations and subjects with signs of illegal trading and transportation of wild animals; acts of using chemicals and electric shock to exploit aquatic products; and at the same time promptly detect and fight against acts of taking advantage of cyberspace to advertise and trade wild animals. Thereby compiling a list of food service business establishments, markets, and restaurants at risk of consuming wild animals, and points of trading of migratory birds and illegal seafood exploitation, effectively serving patrols, inspections and handling of violations.

In parallel with the work of fighting and handling, the Police force has coordinated to promote propaganda with many rich and diverse forms, contributing to raising awareness and changing people's behavior in protecting wildlife and aquatic resources. Localities across the country have conducted 170 reports, published 1,455 news and articles in newspapers and social networking platforms; organized 6,062 propaganda campaigns; issued more than 79,000 leaflets and propaganda materials; organized commitments for 4,782 establishments, households, and individuals not to trap, catch, trade, and trade wildlife and not to use prohibited fishing gear in aquatic exploitation. Through mobilization, 131 individuals voluntarily handed over 1,065 birds and 195 endangered and rare wildlife individuals.

Functional forces have also organized thousands of patrols, inspections, and sweeps in key areas, thereby detecting and handling 1,784 violations of the law related to wildlife protection and aquatic resources. In which, 579 cases occurred in the Northern region, 706 cases in the Central region, and 499 cases in the Southern and Central Highlands regions.

In An Giang province alone, under the advice of the Provincial Police, functional sectors and localities have implemented many drastic solutions in propaganda, prevention and combat of violations. The whole province has organized 44 propaganda and direct training sessions for more than 5,443 people; issued over 6,250 leaflets and 7,041 propaganda magazines against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing; implemented many news, articles, and propaganda reports in the mass media.

Along with that, the Provincial Police force has closely coordinated with the Forest Protection force, Sub-Department of Fisheries - Fisheries Surveillance to strengthen patrols and inspections in key areas and routes, thereby detecting and handling 24 violations related to the management and protection of wild animals, migratory birds and violations in the field of protecting aquatic resources.

The achieved results have made an important contribution to preventing law violations, gradually raising people's awareness of law compliance, protecting biodiversity, conserving wildlife and aquatic resources, serving the goal of sustainable development.
