Lai Chau Provincial Police - said that recently, emergency phone numbers managed and used by the Provincial Police, including 113 (license hotline), 114 (fire hotline), have continuously received harassment calls, fake news reports, and fire reports.
Through initial verification, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (PA05) - Lai Chau Provincial Police, identified 3 cases as 7th grade students at Sin Suoi Ho Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, Phong Tho District, related to harassing phone calls to hotline 113, 114.
PA05 Department coordinated with Sin Suoi Ho Commune Police and Sin Suoi Ho Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities to invite 3 students and parents' representatives to work.
During the work, the 3 students confessed their actions. The reason comes from the fact that students do not have full knowledge about using emergency hotlines, and are not aware that calling emergency phone numbers to harass and report fake news is a violation of the law.
Because the 3 students are currently under 14 years old (both born in 2012), the police force coordinated with the school and parents to conduct education and deter the 3 students to grasp and understand the relevant regulations, requiring the students to write a commitment not to repeat the offense.
Currently, the authorities are continuing to investigate and verify related cases to handle them according to regulations.
