On September 23, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province launched a 45-day and night campaign to handle violations that are the main causes of traffic accidents in the province.
This campaign aims to raise awareness and self-consciousness of traffic participants in obeying the law; minimize traffic accidents in terms of the number of cases, deaths and injuries caused by violations of basic rules and principles when participating in traffic. Thereby, promptly preventing, stopping and handling violations that lead to accidents.
During the peak period lasting 45 days and nights, the forces will focus on strictly handling the following thematic groups: violations of alcohol and drug concentrations; transporting goods with excess weight and size limits, "extending" the vehicle's body; and transporting beyond the safe waterline; violations of driving at incorrect speeds; violations of regulations on overtaking, road sections, lanes and failure to comply with traffic light signals; not wearing helmets or wearing helmets that do not meet quality requirements, not fully equipped with rearview mirrors as prescribed, not using signal lights when changing direction, not giving way according to priority when entering intersections, going in the opposite direction.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tho - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, in order to ensure traffic order and safety in the province to achieve good results, minimizing human and property losses, the organization of the launching ceremony creates a new spirit and the highest determination of the entire political system.
"The losses caused by traffic accidents have become a burden for many families, relatives and the whole society; a burden for medical services, and a loss for the economy. Therefore, it is necessary to realize the goal of controlling and reducing traffic accidents throughout the province," Mr. Tho emphasized.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, hundreds of officers and soldiers of the Traffic Police Department and local forces in the province simultaneously patrolled and set up many checkpoints on roads where traffic accidents frequently occur to increase inspection and handle violations.
