At 9:20 p.m. on January 13, 2025, at Group 4, Bach Dang area, Cam Thach ward, Cam Pha city, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Quang Ninh Provincial Police coordinated to inspect and caught Nguyen Van Viet (born in 1996, residing in Ao Tuan village, Canh Nau hamlet, Yen The district, Bac Giang province) in the act of illegally storing drugs.
Searching the scene, the authorities seized a large amount of synthetic drugs hidden by Nguyen Van Viet.
Through quick investigation, Nguyen Van Viet confessed that he bought the above drugs from Bui Duc Thanh (born in 1979, residing in group 4, Nam Son 2 area, Cam Son ward, Cam Pha city).
That same night, a working group from the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department conducted an emergency search of Bui Duc Thanh's residence, discovering and seizing an additional 160.1 grams of synthetic drugs and many exhibits related to drug trafficking activities.
Police identified Bui Duc Thanh as a notorious drug dealer with a criminal record. Thanh specializes in buying and selling large quantities of drugs from neighboring provinces, then distributing them to his "henchmen" for consumption in Cam Pha City.
The subjects used many sophisticated tricks such as frequently changing transaction locations and hiding drugs in hard-to-detect items to deceive authorities.
Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Quang Ninh Provincial Police is continuing to expand the investigation and consolidate the case file to strictly handle the subjects according to the provisions of law.
