The subject arrested for theft of property is Thai Chi Hai (born in 1976, residing in village 3, Son Tra commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province).
According to the investigation, at around 10:00 p.m. on December 14, due to lack of money for personal expenses, Hai took a sack and sneaked into the chicken coop of Mr. TVB's family (born in 1964, his biological brother, living next door to Hai's house) to steal chickens.
Knowing that his brother's family was fast asleep, Hai proceeded to steal all 11 chickens in the coop, took them home and hid them until the next day to sell.
However, early the next morning, after receiving a report of chicken theft from Mr. B's family, the police investigated and discovered and arrested Hai with the stolen goods.
According to the valuation results of the Criminal Proceedings Valuation Council of Huong Son District People's Committee, the 11 chickens that Hai stole are worth 2,429,500 VND.
According to Huong Son District Police, in 2007, Hai was administratively punished for theft by Vu Quang District Police; in 2009, he was sent to an educational facility by Huong Son District Police for 24 months.
In 2015, he was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison by the People's Court of Huong Son district for property destruction and illegal possession of narcotics. In 2020, he was sentenced to 15 months in prison by the People's Court of Dong Xoai district, Binh Phuoc province for intentional damage to property.
