Ben Tre increases patrols and strictly handles traffic violations that are direct causes of traffic accidents.

On June 12, Mr. Cao Minh Duc - Director of the Department of Construction of Ben Tre province, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Traffic Safety Committee of Ben Tre province - said that in the first 5 months of 2025 (from December 15, 2024 to May 14, 2025), there were 62 road traffic accidents in the province, killing 57 people and injuring 9 people. Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of accidents increased by 12, the number of deaths increased by 7 people and the number of injuries increased by 5 people.

According to Mr. Duc, the reason for the increase in traffic accidents is due to the limited awareness of traffic law compliance of a part of the people; violations are still common, especially errors related to alcohol concentration, speed, etc.

The Traffic Police of Ben Tre province organized 2,733 patrols and controls, with 14,660 officers and soldiers participating. Thereby, 1,236 violations were detected and recorded, 1,012 cases were fined with a total amount of more than 3.8 billion VND, and 793 vehicles were temporarily detained. In which: the error of not having a driver's license was 340 cases; violating alcohol concentration 410 cases; not wearing a helmet 18 cases; exceeding the prescribed speed limit in 395 cases; carrying overloaded or oversized in 43 cases; stopping or parking in violation of regulations in 26 cases and some other errors."

In addition, in the work of handling violations through images (cold fines), the authorities have handled 410 cases, collected a fine of 1.3 billion VND; revoked the right to use driving licenses for 120 cases and deducted driving license points for 43 cases.

In addition, the Traffic Inspectorate has conducted 13 inspections, administratively sanctioned 1 case with an amount of 7 million VND and reminded 6 cases of buying and selling encroaching on the roadway and sidewalk," Mr. Cao Minh Duc informed.

The Standing Deputy Head of the Traffic Safety Committee of Ben Tre province also added that in the coming time, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee will request the Provincial Traffic Police Department to continue to increase patrols and controls on complex routes and areas that often have accidents and traffic congestion. At the same time, promptly detect and strictly handle violations of traffic safety and order, associated with crime prevention and control. In addition, forces will be assigned to coordinate with Tien Giang Provincial Police to regulate and reduce congestion in the Rach Mieu Bridge area.

To contribute to curbing and reducing the number of traffic accidents in the area, the Traffic Safety Committee of Ben Tre province will continue to request the Traffic Police Department to arrange forces to deploy solutions to ensure traffic order and safety. At the same time, organize continuous patrols and inspections to ensure the regular presence of functional forces on key routes, especially during holidays and festivals, Mr. Duc emphasized.

According to data from the Traffic Safety Committee of Ben Tre province, in May 2025 alone, there were 9 road traffic accidents in the province, killing 8 people and injuring 1 person. Regarding waterway traffic accidents, no incidents were recorded during the month.
