Wind power is being awakened

According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Ca Mau province, through research, the potential for wind power in the province can develop up to 16,283MW. On that basis, combined with economic factors and transport infrastructure, the province was approved by the Prime Minister in the plan to implement the VIII power plan and adjust the VIII power plan, and by 2030, 34 more projects with a total capacity of 2,369MW will be put into operation. It is expected that in 2025, the province will have 2 more projects with a total capacity of 176MW in operation.

The province is continuing to support investors in constructing 3 projects with a total capacity of 317MW; completing procedures for investment and construction to prepare for the construction of 7 projects with a total capacity of 369MW. In addition, 2 projects with a total capacity of 150MW have been approved for investment policy and issued invitations to interest as a basis for selecting investors.

Developing wind power in parallel with electricity consumption, Ca Mau province has a certain advantage. The Government Office has issued an official dispatch notifying the opinion of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha to assign the Ministry of Industry and Trade to study and propose submitting the content of offshore sea power export in Ca Mau province and the pilot project for offshore wind power development to competent authorities for settlement.

The Department of Industry and Trade is coordinating with consulting units, contacting and connecting with interested investors to study plans and forms for implementing electricity exports from Vietnam to Singapore

Exploiting the full potential of wind power

According to statistics from the Department of Industry and Trade of Ca Mau province, since its operation in November 2021, the province has provided the national grid with a total output of nearly 6 billion kWh.

In addition to exploiting electricity from wind power projects, Ca Mau promotes the development of tourism from wind power. Currently, there are two wind power tourism projects in operation and have become attractive destinations for tourists. In the coming time, Ca Mau province and electricity investors will find it difficult to exploit more tourist attractions from wind power at suitable locations.
