On December 10, in Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province, the Party Committee - Command of Coast Guard Region 4 held a conference to review the Coast Guard's work in 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025.
In 2024, despite many difficulties, the Party Committee and the Head of the Coast Guard Region 4 Command have led and directed the unit to make efforts and determination to overcome difficulties, resolutely and thoroughly carry out tasks, and successfully complete all assigned tasks. Many of these tasks were completed excellently, affirming the core role in law enforcement and protecting national security, order, and safety in the southwestern sea of the Fatherland.
Notably, 217 ships and boats were organized to carry out combat readiness missions (SSCD), patrol, inspect, control, enforce the law; combat IUU fishing, etc., traveling over 76,287 nautical miles to ensure absolute safety. 10 ships were used to support search and rescue (SAR), provide medical support to 10 fishermen, and fix incidents for 3 fishing boats; 2 batches/87 officers and soldiers were mobilized to support localities in fighting forest fires, ensuring safety, which was recognized and highly appreciated by local authorities.
Effectively implementing patrol, control and law enforcement at sea; inspecting, receiving and handling 698 cases/818 ships (817 domestic ships and 01 foreign ship), issuing decisions to sanction administrative violations in 670 cases/768 ships with a total administrative violation fine (VPHC) of nearly 15 billion VND, confiscating more than 1.4 million liters of DO oil, 305 kg of scrap iron, selling confiscated assets and paying nearly 25 billion VND to the state budget. The total amount of money paid to the state budget from sanctioning VPHC and selling confiscated assets is nearly 38 billion VND.
Handed over 25 cases/46 ships to the authorities of Kien Giang, Ca Mau, and Soc Trang provinces for criminal prosecution according to their authority. The Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province issued a decision to impose administrative penalties on 9 cases/20 ships/30 subjects with a total amount of over 11.7 billion VND, revoked 23 captain certificates, and confiscated 2 fishing boats (worth about 10 billion VND).
Presided over and coordinated the fight against and arrested 12 cases/12 subjects of drug crimes (independently detected and arrested 11 cases/11 subjects, exceeding the annual target by 55%), directly and coordinated the fight against and arrested 8 cases/7 fishing boats/15 subjects who illegally kept and hid 30 VMS devices of other fishing boats.
Speaking at the Conference, Major General Dam Xuan Tuan, Deputy Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard, commended, acknowledged and congratulated the results achieved by the Coast Guard Region 4 Command in 2024.
To lead, direct and successfully carry out the tasks of 2025, the Deputy Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard requested the Party Committee - Command of the Region to focus on performing well a number of key tasks: Continue to improve the quality and effectiveness of political and ideological education; Strictly maintain the work of combat readiness, forces and means on combat readiness, search and rescue in accordance with regulations; Organize the force of ships and boats to effectively carry out tasks at sea, focusing on the task of combat readiness, protecting security, sovereignty and the task of patrolling and controlling against IUU fishing in the border waters.
Organize seriously and qualitatively the training work; Coordinate closely with the joint forces; actively fight, prevent crimes and handle violators in accordance with the provisions of law; Maintain, ensure full, timely, synchronous and quality of all aspects of logistics and technical work in performing tasks.
