On November 19, the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 said that the unit had just assisted in rescuing fishermen in distress at sea.
Previously, at around 12:00 on November 18, during patrolling, checking and controlling at sea, CSB Ship 4035 received information from fishermen that fishing boat CM-994xx-TS had sunk about 110 nautical miles south-southeast of Hon Khoai. There were 9 crew members on board (rescued by fishing boat CM-922xx-TS operating nearby), including 1 seriously injured fisherman who needed medical assistance.
Receiving the report from CSB 4035, the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 quickly ordered the Mobile Ship to approach CM-922xx-TS to provide support. At 3:00 p.m. the same day, CSB 4035 approached the distressed ship.
CM-994xx-TS is a single-net trawler captained by Mr. Nguyen Duy Khanh, whose permanent address is Tran Van Thoi district, Ca Mau province. While collecting and hoisting the net onto the ship, it encountered large waves, capsized, and was left floating on the water.
9 crew members managed to escape and were safely rescued by the CM-922xx-TS. The captain was hit by the net rope, 2 leg muscles were crushed, and his body was scratched. If not treated promptly, it could lead to a dangerous infection.
Ship CSB 4035 promptly dispatched military medical staff to examine, provide medicine, and provide care instructions for the victims, while encouraging and reassuring the fishermen and requesting ship CM-922xx-TS to bring the injured fishermen and all crew members on the ship in distress to shore.
