thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 122/CD-TTg dated July 25, 2025 and the plans and instructions of the Head of the Ministry of National Defense and the Head of the Vietnam Coast Guard, the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 has implemented a peak period (from August 1 to September 2, 2025) with many synchronous, drastic and effective measures and achieved important results, not allowing Vietnamese fishing vessels to violate foreign waters to illegally exploit seafood.
Accordingly, the unit has organized and used 25 ships and boats to carry out the task of combating IUU fishing in the Southwest sea. Monitor and monitor nearly 8,000 fishing vessels operating in the sea area bordering Vietnam - Malaysia - Thailand, call directly to remind 823 boat owners/845 fishing vessels that have lost their journey monitoring signals. Coordinate to review, grasp and strictly manage "3 no" fishing vessels, fishing vessels anchored in coastal islands... absolutely do not let Vietnamese fishing vessels cross the border into foreign waters in areas managed by the Regional Command.
During the peak period, the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 discovered, inspected, arrested, and brought to shore to handle 5 cases/7 ships/74 subjects with serious IUU violations. In which, there were 2 cases/2 ships/19 subjects transporting 4 vessel monitoring devices (VMS) of other fishing vessels; 30 cases/32 ships were administratively sanctioned with a total amount of over 300 million VND.
In the process of carrying out the task of combating IUU fishing, the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 has effectively combined with other tasks, notably: The unit has detected, inspected, and arrested 3 cases/3 fishing vessels for illegally transporting 186,000 liters of DO oil; organized medical support for 2 fishermen in distress at sea...
Along with that, the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 has effectively implemented propaganda work against IUU fishing in the direction of innovating the content and forms of visual and vivid propaganda so that fishermen can easily absorb and grasp the provisions of the law, while creating general deterrence, warning, and prevention among the people. During the patrol and control process, the authorities organized direct propaganda to 678 fishing vessels/5,253 crew members; propaganda via fishing communication machines to 3,235 vessels/25,143 crew members...
Concluding the conference, Colonel Nguyen Van Tranh, member of the Party Committee Standing Committee, Deputy Commander of the Law Command of Coast Guard Region 4, requested agencies and units to promote the achieved results, learn from the experiences that have been pointed out, continue to uphold responsibility, overcome difficulties, resolutely fight against IUU fishing with many more drastic and effective methods and measures.
The results of the peak period in particular as well as the results of the implementation of the task of combating IUU fishing in recent years of the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 in general have clearly demonstrated the sense of responsibility and the highest determination of the officers and soldiers of the entire unit to contribute to joining hands with the entire political system to remove the EC's "Y yellow card" for the Vietnamese seafood industry.
