On July 23, a representative of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Gia Lai province said that the Provincial People's Committee has decided to establish 4 interdisciplinary animal quarantine posts on national highways.
In particular, the area of the communes in the West of Gia Lai - where there are a large number of livestock farms - has 3 animal quarantine checkpoints. The checkpoints are located in the communes including: Ia Khuol checkpoint (National Highway 14), Ia Le checkpoint (National Highway 14, Ia Le commune), Binh De checkpoint (National Highway 1, Hoai Nhon Bac ward), and Song An checkpoint (National Highway 19, Cuu An commune).
These checkpoints are located at points adjacent to provinces at high risk of outbreaks such as Quang Ngai and Dak Lak. The checkpoints operate 24/7 with the coordination of the veterinary force and the Traffic Police.

The Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee requires quarantine officers not only to be on duty at the checkpoint but also to organize mobile patrols on branch routes, especially at night, to promptly detect vehicles deliberately avoiding the checkpoint.
All vehicles transporting animals must have their documents and animal status checked; suspected cases will be quarantined at the checkpoint and not allowed to enter the area.
From 2022 to present, the western area of Gia Lai province with a large land fund has attracted many large-scale and dense pig farms. According to statistics, the Western communes have about 208 investment projects in the livestock sector, with a total area of over 9,310 hectares and a total investment capital of up to VND 35,777 billion.
For example, in Ia Pa and Po To communes, there are 5 pig farming projects in operation; Chu Se, Bo Ngoong, Al Ba communes... have 18 pig farms in operation with a total of over 66,300 pigs.
