On June 11, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Vu Duc Con - Chairman of the Durian Association of Dak Lak province said that he had submitted a petition to the competent authority to request to cease holding the position of Chairman of the Durian Association.
Mr. Con said: "I have retired and am receiving insurance benefits according to regulations. Meanwhile, the association needs specialized people with deep knowledge of the durian industry to operate effectively and promptly handle arising hot issues. Currently, there are personnel participating in running the general activities of the association".
Mr. Vu Duc Con received the retirement decision from June 2024 when he was still holding the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Lak province. However, he will still serve as Chairman of the Dak Lak Province Durian Association for the 2023-2028 term.
Previously, in March 2023, the Dak Lak Durian Association held its 1st Congress, term 2023 - 2028, electing an Executive Committee of 19 members. Mr. Con was elected as President of the Association.
During this term, the Dak Lak Durian Association set out many key goals and tasks such as receiving and transferring new technologies in the production, processing and trading of durian; organizing seminars and technical topics; sightseeing and studying at home and abroad; promoting trade promotion, perfecting production processes and improving product quality...
For processing and processing establishments, the association emphasizes the requirement to comply with technical procedures, ensure food safety, packaging and product designs in accordance with legal regulations.
According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak province, the local durian growing area has reached 38,800 hectares, accounting for 21.7% of the country's durian growing area.
The growth rate of durian output is about 126 thousand tons/year. Durian output in 2024 alone will reach over 1.5 million tons.
