On June 26, the Steering Committee for AIDS, Drug and prostitutes Prevention and Control of Hanoi City. Hanoi coordinated with the National Economics University to organize a rally in response to the Action Month, International Day and National Day for Drug Prevention and Control.
The event aims to convey a strong message of determination to push drugs out of the community, especially towards young people - the most vulnerable group to this problem.
The program was attended by representatives of central agencies, cities, functional forces, along with thousands of students and artists and celebrities. The activity aims to raise awareness and promote social responsibility in drug prevention and control.
Speaking at the rally, Colonel Nguyen Duc Long - Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police - emphasized that drugs are a global danger, causing serious consequences for health, security and social order. Thanks to synchronous solutions, each year Hanoi detects and handles over 3,000 drug cases, arresting nearly 5,000 subjects - accounting for about 15% nationwide. In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, the city has dismantled 1,204 cases, seizing more than 400kg of various drugs.
However, the situation is still very complicated. Drugs have penetrated schools, urban areas and spaces that are considered safe. In the first 6 months of the year, Hanoi recorded 8 cases, 18 students - students violating drug-related regulations.
Faced with this situation, the Hanoi Steering Committee has set out 5 key tasks: Raising awareness and action of the political system; promoting the professional activities of specialized forces; strictly controlling drug addicts and illegal drug users; improving conditions for drug rehabilitation facilities and drug prevention and control officers; strengthening propaganda and mobilizing the entire population to participate, with the spirit of "each citizen is a soldier, each family is a fortress".
Colonel Nguyen Duc Long suggested that universities actively integrate drug prevention and control content in teaching and extracurricular activities; proactively coordinate with competent authorities to organize communication and training for students and staff of the Youth Union - Association.
Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong - Director of the National Economics University said that for more than 10 years, the school has not had any drug-related violations. However, the school is not subjective, always improving education, building a healthy living environment so that students have "mental strength" against drugs.
At the program, the public was provided with information about disguised drugs in the form of food, drinks, electronic cigarettes, etc. The highlight was the propaganda parade conducted by the Hanoi City Youth Union and students of universities.
The message is emphasized: Drug prevention and control is not anyone's responsibility, it is the responsibility of the whole community. Hanoi City is a pioneer, determined to build a drug-free city, for a healthy and humane future.
