On May 25, Lao Cai Police said that entering the time when students are on summer vacation, the risk of drowning accidents in rivers, streams, ponds, and lakes in mountainous areas continues to pose many risks.
Faced with that reality, the Police force of Cam Nhan and Tan Hop communes (Lao Cai) simultaneously deployed many practical activities to raise awareness of preventing drowning accidents in the community.
On May 24, Cam Nhan Commune Police coordinated with the Commune Youth Union to launch a campaign to propagate and plant 6 warning signs in river, stream, pond, lake and dam areas at high risk of drowning accidents in the area.

Warning signs are installed in locations where children often play or people pass by to raise vigilance and limit unfortunate incidents that may occur during the summer.
According to functional forces, the activity has visual propaganda significance, helping people clearly identify potential dangerous areas, and at the same time promote the proactive role of grassroots police forces in protecting the lives and health of people, especially children.
Along with installing warning signs, Cam Nhan Commune Police also recommends that families strengthen the management of their children during summer vacation; do not let children arbitrarily swim in rivers, streams, ponds, and lakes when no adults come along.
Parents and schools need to focus on equipping children with safe swimming skills and situations handling skills when encountering incidents underwater to minimize the risk of accidents.
Also on May 24, in response to the 2026 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, the Tan Hop Commune Police Youth Union coordinated with the Commune Youth Union to organize environmental sanitation, clear bushes, and collect waste in public areas, riverbanks, streams and people's playgrounds.

In parallel with environmental cleanup activities, youth union members have promoted propaganda on drowning prevention and control for people and students in the area.
Through actual surveys, functional forces have planted 20 warning signs in ponds, lakes, rivers, streams and deep water points with potential risks of drowning.
Through the above activities, the grassroots police force continues to promote its core role in propaganda and mobilization of people to raise awareness of accident prevention, protect the living environment and maintain security and order in the locality.
In summer - when children regularly participate in outdoor activities, proactive drowning prevention is considered an important solution to ensure safety for children.
Local authorities and functional forces recommend that each family needs to increase responsibility in managing and supervising their children so that children have a joyful, safe and useful summer.
