On May 22, in Phu Quoc special zone, a delegation from An Giang Provincial Police led by Major General Nguyen Van Han, Director of the Provincial Police, inspected the results of the first 6 months of 2026's work for Phu Quoc Special Zone Police.
In the first 6 months of 2026, Phu Quoc Special Zone Police proactively advised Party committees and authorities to effectively implement policies and solutions to ensure security and order (ANTT); focusing on building Phu Quoc Special Zone into a "Model Unit for ANTT and urban civilization". The unit has issued more than 60 documents directing the strengthening of all aspects of ANTT assurance, building forces and the movement of all people to protect national security.
The special zone police have synchronously deployed plans to absolutely protect the safety of key targets, important political, economic, and cultural events; proactively grasp the situation early and remotely, and promptly advise on effectively handling complex cases related to land, sea security, religion... to avoid passivity and surprise.
Notably, the unit has ensured security and safety for Party and State delegations and international guests to the locality; ensured social order and safety for 8 land acquisition coercion, forcing remediation of consequences in accordance with legal regulations. Through propaganda and mobilization, there were 22 cases of land encroachment who voluntarily dismantled works and restored the status quo; coordinated to mobilize 411 households to hand over land to serve key projects preparing for APEC 2027.
In addition, Phu Quoc Special Zone Police also effectively coordinated in combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, mobilizing 72 fishing vessels that do not meet operating conditions to anchor centrally to serve the EC inspection team; detected, prevented and handled 37 articles with toxic content on cyberspace. Crime prevention and control work was carried out drastically and in accordance with the law; received and handled 100% of denunciations and reports of crimes; prosecuted 64 cases with 120 defendants; arrested 100% of wanted subjects arising. In 2026, Phu Quoc Special Zone Police were assigned 56 work targets, and have now completed 32/45 direct implementation targets, reaching 71.11%, of which 10 targets exceeded the set plan.
Speaking to direct at the inspection, Major General Nguyen Van Han acknowledged and praised the outstanding results of Phu Quoc Special Zone Police in the past time, especially the proactive and drastic spirit in ensuring social order and safety to effectively serve socio-economic development tasks and key projects in the area.
The comrade requested that in the coming time, the Special Zone Police continue to promote their core role in maintaining social order and safety; proactively grasp the situation early and from afar; focus on fighting and preventing crime; absolutely ensure security and safety of important events, especially activities serving APEC 2027. At the same time, continue to tighten discipline and order, promote administrative reform, digital transformation, and build the Phu Quoc Special Zone Police force to be truly brave, responsible, close to the people, and serving the people.
Previously, the working delegation inspected the reality at Phu Quoc Detention Center, assessed the situation of detention management, facilities and compliance with regulations on temporary detention and temporary detention. The Director of the Provincial Police requested the unit to continue to tighten management, absolutely ensure security and safety of detention facilities, and prevent sudden and unexpected incidents.
