On November 15, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of An Giang Provincial Police coordinated with the Provincial Police Youth Union to organize the Opening Ceremony of the littering class for people on compulsory drug rehabilitation at the Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 2 of An Giang Province.
The class is organized to help students gradually access basic knowledge, practice basic reading and writing skills, thereby creating conditions for them to raise their awareness, improve themselves and have the opportunity to reintegrate better into the community after completing their period of drug rehabilitation. This is also a practical activity in response to the People's Public Security movement to help people eliminate illiteracy and contribute to the implementation of the humanitarian goal in drug addiction treatment.
Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Truong - Deputy Head of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department emphasized the importance of equipping drug addicts with basic knowledge. This is one of the important solutions to support the recovery process, prevent relapse and create a foundation for the offended person to rise up, build a new life that is beneficial for the family and society. He suggested that cadres, teachers and trainees promote a sense of responsibility and actively participate so that the class can achieve practical results.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the students were informed by the staff in charge of the classroom rules, learning methods and daily living hours. Although many students have never been to school before or have almost completely forgotten their handwriting, with the enthusiasm of the teachers' guidance and the support of the police force, many people boldly hold a pen and practice writing the first lines, expressing their determination to study. They also see this as an opportunity to change themselves, regain their confidence and move towards a more positive life after drug addiction.
