The transportation distance has also been shortened from about 367 km to 200 km, contributing to optimizing efficiency and saving costs for owners nationwide.
Mekong Express is designed to transport dry and refrigerated goods, with a carrying capacity of up to hundreds of TEUs/trip, including the ability to receive a large number of refrigerated containers. The partners also plan to expand the route, add stops at Saigon Central Container Port (SPCT) - a port operated by DP World and Saigon Hiep Phuoc Port of Vietnam National Shipping Lines.
The new service is also a more sustainable solution than road transport, helping to reduce carbon emissions by up to 60%. DP World and VIMC Lines expect Mekong Express to achieve net zero emissions by 2026.
Mr. Glen Hilton, General Director & CEO of Asia - Pacific of DP World, shared: DP World is committed to building a seamless and integrated supply chain ecosystem in Vietnam, an increasingly important market for trade in the Asia - Pacific region and globally.
