On March 21, at the Quang Binh Provincial Police Sports Center, the opening ceremony of the 11th National Karate Championship for the Central - Central Highlands region in 2025 took place. The tournament was organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Karate Federation of Quang Binh province.
The tournament attracted 371 athletes from 17 provinces and cities in the region, competing in 75 sets of medals. The fighters competed in 4 age groups: 10 - 11 years old, 12 - 14 years old, 15 - 17 years old and 18 years old and above.
The competition includes Kata (performing rights) and Kumite (opposite) with many weight categories suitable for each age group. The tournament applies the rules of the World Karate Federation (WKF) and the regulations of the Vietnam Physical Education and Sports Administration, taking place until March 23.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Phu Son - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Binh, Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized that the tournament is an important playground, evaluating the Karate movement in the Central - Central Highlands, and at the same time an opportunity to discover and nurture young talents for the national team.
Right after the opening ceremony, the first matches took place in an exciting and exciting atmosphere with fierce competition from young fighters.
The Quang Nam delegation has the largest number of athletes (52 people), followed by Ha Tinh (35 people), Hue City (31 people), Nghe An (28 people). The Quang Binh Karate team participated with 29 people.
