On October 30, Mr. Tran Minh Khoa - Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone (An Giang Province) - said that the heavy rain that occurred on the evening of October 29 caused many roads in the special zone to be partially flooded.
According to information from the An Giang Province Hydrometeorological Station, from around 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on October 29, there was heavy rain in Phu Quoc, with measured rainfall of 120mm (may be the heaviest rainfall since 2000). According to the forecast, this rain is likely to last for the next hours.
Many central routes of the special zone such as: Tran Hung Dao, 30/4, Nguyen Trung Truc, old airport.... was partially flooded. Vehicles traveling through this section of the road are very difficult, with engine failure and traffic affected.
By the morning of October 30, the water had receded, and the locality also focused on handling work to stabilize people's lives and activities.
To proactively respond to heavy rain causing local flooding, the locality has issued an urgent dispatch requesting departments, branches and units to regularly monitor weather developments, proactively coordinate with forces stationed in the area to prepare forces and means for search and rescue when necessary.
Require the Center for Clean Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation of An Giang (Water Supply Area 2) to organize the closure and opening of the dam to regulate water appropriately and manage the safety of the dam to protect the safety of people's lives and property. The Economic, Infrastructure - Urban Affairs Department allowed forces to clear the flow, especially the old airport area, 30/4 streets, Tran Hung Dao, Nguyen Trung Truc, ... to promptly drain water to immediately overcome local flooding at these hot spots.
