On the afternoon of December 26, in Phu Quoc City (Kien Giang Province), the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 coordinated with the Mass Mobilization Committee of the Provincial Party Committees of Kien Giang, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, and Soc Trang provinces to organize a Conference to summarize the coordination in implementing the Mass Mobilization Program "Coast Guard accompanies fishermen" in 2024. Thereby, the aim was to evaluate the achieved results, clarify the limitations, causes, lessons learned in the coordination and implementation, and determine the direction and tasks for implementation in the coming time.
In 2024, the Regional Command actively and proactively coordinated with the Mass Mobilization Committees of the provinces in the assigned management unit to effectively implement the Program with many practical and meaningful activities. Notably: Successfully organized 7 Programs with 29 concentrated propaganda sessions for over 64,500 cadres, people, teachers, students, and fishermen in the area; 4 "I love the sea and islands of my homeland" Contests at 47 secondary schools, attracting nearly 35,000 students to participate; distributed more than 13,000 propaganda documents and leaflets; presented more than 3,300 national flags, 308 photos of Uncle Ho, and more than 200 medical bags to fishermen. Mobilized 405 vehicle owners and captains to sign a commitment not to violate IUU fishing; awarded prizes to 14 collectives and 118 individuals with high achievements in the Contest. Donated 41 bicycles, 399 scholarships (each worth 1 million VND); sponsored 12 students with especially difficult circumstances, good students... with a total value of over 3 billion VND.
The conference also pointed out the difficulties and obstacles in coordinating the implementation of the Program, clearly identified the causes, and drew lessons to propose directions and measures for better implementation in the coming time.
At the Conference, the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 awarded 41 collectives and 30 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the 2024 Program.
The program's effectiveness has contributed to strengthening the great national unity bloc, raising people's awareness and responsibility for the cause of building and protecting sovereignty, security, and safety of seas and islands, and building a solid "People's Hearts" in the southwestern sea of the Fatherland.
