On March 21, information from the Nghe An Provincial Red Cross Society said that the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society in coordination with Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) has just organized a ceremony to respond to "World Water Day" 2026 at Thanh Tung Secondary School, Bich Hao commune, Nghe An province.
The program is organized to raise awareness for the community, especially students, about the essential role of water in health and life; and at the same time guide skills in safe water use, proper hand washing and using water filter powder packages in emergencies.
According to the organizers, World Water Day is launched by the United Nations in 1993, held annually on March 22 to raise global awareness about the important role of water resources, and at the same time call on the community to join hands to protect and use water sustainably.
In 2026, the chosen theme is "Water and Gender - Water and Gender Equality", emphasizing the link between access to clean water, safe sanitation and narrowing the gender gap, enhancing the role of women in managing, protecting and using water resources.

The ceremony was attended by about 260 delegates, including representatives of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, leaders of Nghe An province, relevant departments, agencies, P&G Vietnam Company, Nghe An Provincial Red Cross Society, local leaders, teachers, students and volunteers.
At the program, representatives of P&G Vietnam Company introduced and guided the use of P&G water filter powder package - an effective water treatment solution, especially useful in emergency situations or in places lacking clean water sources.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Hai Anh - Vice Chairman, General Secretary of the Vietnam Red Cross Society - emphasized that in the coming time, the Vietnam Red Cross Society will continue to promote communication, spread, and raise community awareness about protecting water resources, using safe water and promoting gender equality in accessing clean water, especially for women and girls.
The event is within the framework of the "Clean Drinking Water for the Community" Project funded by P&G Company, implemented from November 2024 to October 2026 in many provinces and cities across the country.
In Nghe An alone, 1,702 boxes of P&G water purification powder packages have been distributed to people, helping to proactively treat water sources in households, contributing to protecting health and improving disaster response capabilities.
In addition, during the recent natural disasters and storms, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society has supported 1,207 boxes of P&G water purification powder packages for localities such as Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Nhan Hoa, Bich Hao, Kim Bang, Xuan Lam, Tan Ky, Quynh Phu.
