On October 19, at Thong Nhat Park (Hanoi), Vietnam Women's Newspaper in collaboration with the Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund - Ministry of Health organized the "Women Run for a smoke-free Environment" race. The event aims to spread a healthy lifestyle, encourage the building of a smoke-free living and working environment, contributing to protecting the health of families and communities, especially women and children.
The race is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Women's Union (1930-2025) and Vietnamese Women's Day October 20. The program was attended by Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam Women's Union.
According to the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO), each year, the world has more than 8 million deaths, of which about 1.3 million cases are caused by passive smoking. In Vietnam, cigarettes cause more than 100,000 deaths each year, of which 18,800 are from passive smoking.

The event attracted more than 1,000 athletes with a distance of nearly 2.5km around Bay Mau Lake. In addition to exercising, athletes also have the opportunity to run with many artists and celebrities such as Miss Photo Vu Huong Giang, Miss Beauty of the Red Moon Be Thi Bang, actress Thanh Huong, actress Yen My... creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere.
Actress Thanh Huong shared her joy at starting the new day with meaningful activities: I clearly feel the spirit of solidarity, joy and excitement spreading from everyone. Each run today carries a message for the health of women, children, and the smoke-free community. Modern women are not only beautiful in appearance but also in a positive spirit of living and being aware of taking care of their health, their family and society.
Within the framework of the program, the Organizing Committee also awarded scholarships to orphans in difficult circumstances affected by natural disasters, organized the program "Change old books to get pure green beans" with the goal of donating 2,000 books to children in mountainous areas, along with many exciting cultural and folk activities of the capital's women's association.
The event ended in a bustling atmosphere, spreading the spirit of healthy living, green living and a strong message about a smoke-free community.
