Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) announced the application of many new security measures to comply with the regulations of the State Bank and enhance safety for users in the context of complicated high-tech crimes.
For these features to work effectively, users need to update the VCB Digibank application to the latest version.
Accordingly, Vietcombank has implemented 4 major changes in the security system:
1. Changes in password regulations: The password for logging in to the VCB Digibank application must have a minimum length of 8 characters. In particular, each time a password change is made, customers must authenticate transactions using SMS OTP or Smart OTP to ensure security.
2. Improve security for Smart OTP: The PIN of the Smart OTP authentication method will be valid for a maximum of 12 months. Before the PIN code expires 10 days, Vietcombank will send a notice for customers to proactively extend.
3. Fight fraud by removing hyper Links in emails: This is a key change to fight phishing. Vietcombank will no longer insert links in customers' emails, helping users avoid the risk of mistakenly clicking on fake websites and stealing information.
4. Biometric security (Facepay): The facial authentication feature will automatically be locked if the user makes 10 consecutive mistakes. To reopen, customers need to collect biometric data according to the instructions.
In addition to system solutions, Vietcombank emphasizes that user caution is still a key factor in protecting assets. The bank recommends that customers absolutely comply with the following safety principles:
About password and PIN:
Do not set easy-to-guess passwords: Absolutely do not use personal information such as date of birth, phone number, license plate... to make passwords or pin codes.
Absolutely secure: Do not share, do not write passwords on paper or save them on unsafe devices.
Periodic changes: You should proactively change your password and PIN at least 12 times a year.
Regarding devices and connecting networks:
Avoid using public devices and networks: Do not log in or make transactions on strange computers or via unreliable WiFi networks (coffees, airports, etc.).
Do not interfere with the operating system: Do not use " Jailbreak/Root" mobile devices to access banking applications, as this is a vulnerability for malware to invade.
Always update and protect: Set up full security patches for the operating system and use virus prevention software.
Regarding safe trading habits:
No save login information: Absolutely do not select the "password saving" feature on web browsers.
Always exit the application: Select "Export" from the digital banking service immediately after completing the transaction.
Immediately notify banks through official channels when detecting unusual transactions, lost phones or suspected account information being leaked.
