According to the Can Tho City Statistics Office, in December 2024, the city is estimated to have granted new business registration certificates to 176 enterprises of all types, up 15.91% over the previous month, with a total registered capital of VND 1,012 billion, down 24.47%. 32 enterprises registered to resume operations, up 3.1% over the previous month. The number of enterprises voluntarily dissolved was 22, up 18.18% and 40 enterprises registered to temporarily suspend operations, up 12.5%.
In the 12 months of 2024, the city is estimated to have issued 1,800 new business registration applications, reaching 100% of the plan, up 5.6% over the same period. With a total registered capital of VND 14,000 billion, the city increased by 7.7% of the plan and increased by 8.3% over the same period.
400 enterprises returned to operation, up 7.82% over the same period; 195 enterprises completed dissolution documents, down 17% over the same period, and 909 enterprises registered for temporary suspension, up 27.84% over the same period.
Regarding foreign direct investment (FDI), in 2024, the city will grant 3 new projects with registered capital of 0.62 million USD; increase capital of 1 project with additional capital of 0.36 million USD; terminate operation of 2 projects with registered capital of 12.15 million USD. Up to now, the city has 81 foreign direct investment projects with total registered investment capital of about 2,219.74 million USD (in industrial parks, 29 projects with total registered capital of 612.33 million USD; outside industrial parks, 52 projects with total registered capital of 1,607.41 million USD).
The total number of employees working in industrial parks by December 2024 is 45,589 people, an increase of 5,238 people compared to the same period in 2023. Of which, the number of employees of FDI enterprises is 23,350 people.
The employment index of industrial enterprises in December 2024 is estimated to decrease by 0.12% compared to the previous month and increase by 1.99% compared to the same period last year. In the whole year of 2024, the employment index of industrial enterprises will increase by 3.55% compared to 2023. Of which, state-owned enterprises will increase by 1.92%; foreign-invested enterprises will decrease by 6.19% and non-state enterprises will increase by 18.3%.
