According to the Department of Planning and Investment of Can Tho City, in the first 9 months of 2024, it is estimated that 1,297 new businesses were granted business registration with a total registered capital of VND 11,314 billion, reaching 72.05% of the plan in terms of number of businesses and 87.03% of the plan in terms of capital, an increase of 1.33% in terms of number of businesses and an increase of 21.75% in terms of capital over the same period.
In addition, 804 enterprises temporarily suspended operations, up 32.24% over the same period; 148 enterprises voluntarily dissolved, up 34.55% over the same period. It is estimated that a total of 324 enterprises returned to operations, up 4.52% over the same period.
Can Tho Export Processing and Industrial Zones attracted 1 new investment project with a total investment capital of 1.18 million USD; adjusted 4 projects, the total adjusted investment capital increased by 19.81 million USD; reduced 1 project not subject to procedures for granting investment registration certificates.
The total revenue of enterprises operating in industrial parks (IPs) in Can Tho City in the first 9 months of 2024 was 1,918.64 million USD, an increase of 13% over the same period. The total number of employees working in Can Tho IPs as of September 2024 was 44,340, an increase of 3,575 over the same period in 2023. Of which, the number of employees of FDI enterprises was 22,033.
Regarding domestic investment attraction (outside industrial parks), in the first 9 months of the year, the city had 4 new projects with registered investment capital of 727,635 billion VND; adjusted investment policies for 5 projects and revoked 1 project. Up to now, there are 91 projects approved by the City People's Committee for investment policies that are being implemented, with a total land use area of about 1,910.38 hectares.
Regarding attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), up to now, the city has 82 foreign direct investment projects with a total registered investment capital of about 2,231.74 million USD (29 projects in industrial parks and 53 projects outside industrial parks). In the first 9 months of 2024 alone, Can Tho has granted 3 new projects with a registered capital of 622,757.5 USD; increased capital for 1 project and terminated 1 project.
