Nghe An - The Provincial People's Committee directs the synchronous and drastic implementation of fire prevention, forest fire fighting and fire safety (PCCC) solutions in the hot season.

On May 5, information from Nghe An Provincial People's Committee said that it had just issued Official Dispatch No. 11/CD-UBND requesting departments, branches and localities to urgently and synchronously deploy measures to prevent and fight forest fires and ensure fire safety during the dry season, in order to minimize the risk of fire and explosion, damage to people and property.

According to the telegram, provincial departments, branches and sectors and People's Committees of districts, cities and towns must continue to strictly implement instructions on fire prevention and fighting and rescue work, especially the plans and conclusions of the Prime Minister and the Secretariat related to strengthening the effectiveness of law enforcement in this field.

The Provincial People's Committee emphasized the role and responsibility of the head in directing and organizing the implementation of fire prevention and fighting tasks. In case of serious fire or explosion due to lack of inspection, supervision or lax leadership, it will be strictly handled.

The Provincial Police are assigned to preside over the review and classification of high-risk areas, from temporary houses, resettlement areas to key forests, while developing effective fire fighting plans, combined with extensive propaganda of fire prevention and fighting knowledge in the community. In particular, the police force will "go to every alley, knock on every door" to properly instruct the use of electricity and Li-on batteries, limiting the cause of fire and explosion from power outages.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned to inspect and instruct forest owners to clear the cover and create a firebreak in high-risk areas. Forest rangers, police, and local authorities must regularly coordinate to inspect, detect, and handle violations of regulations on the use of fire in forests.

The Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Construction, the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism are also assigned to strictly inspect fire-fighting establishments, shopping malls, markets, high-rise buildings and relic sites, ensure fire water sources, fire prevention equipment and instruct people to strictly implement safety regulations.

The province also directed military units, border guards, electricity and hydrometeorology to closely coordinate with localities in weather monitoring, forest fire warnings, incident handling and large-scale fire fighting drills.

Localities are required to strengthen the model of "PCCC Safety Inter-family Group", "P public Fire Fighting Point", promoting the "4 on-site" motto in forest fire prevention and control. The grassroots communication system and press agencies have increased propaganda about fire prevention and fighting skills, warning people not to store flammable substances, and not to burn forest cover during the hot peak season.

Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De said: "With a proactive spirit, the Provincial People's Committee requests that all localities and units absolutely do not neglect or take lightly, and must consider fire prevention and fighting as a key and regular task, especially in the context of the hot season entering its peak, the risk of forest fires is always high".

In 2024, there were dozens of fires in civil works and forest fires in Nghe An province, with total damage to forest areas estimated at tens of hectares due to the fire, seriously affecting the environment and people's lives.
