On September 29, the Farmers' Association of Kien Giang province held the launching ceremony of the Organic Kien Giang Club (Clean and Organic Rice Growing Club).
According to the Provincial Farmers' Association, the Club aims to create a solid foundation to help farmers effectively participate in the implementation of projects such as developing organic agriculture in the 2021-2030 period, developing 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030.
The Provincial Center for Farmer Support and Vocational Education organized the building of core forces through the mobilization of establishing the Kien Giang Organic Club.
According to Mr. Do Tran Thinh - Chairman of Kien Giang Farmers' Association, the Club is a voluntary professional social organization of enterprises, cooperatives, cooperative groups, professional associations, experts, scientists, members, farmers producing and trading in the agricultural sector who wish to participate in the organic agricultural development chain. It is a bridge to coordinate consultation, support, investment, and completion of the organic agricultural ecosystem, and promote trade of agricultural products in the province.
Gathering a wide range of organizations and individuals to unite and support each other in the production and trading of high-quality, organic and safe agricultural products. Sharing experiences and knowledge, perfecting production and business models, expanding agricultural product consumption markets. Connecting investors, consulting, introducing entities to access capital sources...
Main areas of activity include: consulting, supporting organic production processes, developing business models, transferring science and technology, connecting supply and demand, accessing capital, calling for investment, promoting trade, consulting, supporting, supplying materials and equipment for agricultural production.
Currently, there are 58 representatives of organizations and individuals who are members of the Club. Mr. Bui Hoang Thang, a member of the Club, said: Joining the Club will be consulted, supported to develop and improve the efficiency of agricultural production models towards organic and biosafety, associated with connecting access to capital, supplying materials and equipment for production, and connecting to guarantee product output.
“I myself also want to participate in producing clean rice for people to use, which will be more sustainable in the long run than using chemical fertilizers and pesticides,” Mr. Thang shared.
The Chairman of the Farmers’ Association of Kien Giang province emphasized: “The Organic and Clean Rice Growing Club was established with the goal of creating a community that joins hands, shares experiences and knowledge about organic rice farming. Support each other to improve the production process, thereby ensuring not only productivity but also product quality, meeting the increasing demands of the market.”
