On the afternoon of August 21, the Can Tho City Police Department's electronic information page said that in the past time, Nhu Gia Commune Police have done a good job of grasping the local situation, promoting the role of the masses in providing information related to security and order, especially gambling acts, organizing gambling and social evils, contributing to ensuring security and order in the locality.
Accordingly, at about 2:30 PM on August 17, through grasping the situation and receiving information from the people, Nhu Gia Commune Police deployed forces and inspected the house of Ms. D. T. D (born in 1976, Gia Hoa hamlet, Nhu Gia commune) and discovered 10 people participating in illegal gambling in the form of 3-card scratch cards with money in a closed room.
At the scene, the police force made a record of temporarily seizing over 40 million VND, 9 mobile phones, 12 sets of 52 cards and some other related exhibits.
Currently, the case is being consolidated by functional agencies, handling the above cases in accordance with the law.
The Can Tho City Police Department's electronic information page also clearly stated that illegal gambling is one of the social evils that is at risk of generating many consequences, affecting the socio-economic life of people, local security and order, and potentially posing the risk of other violations of the law.
Therefore, proactively detecting, verifying, and promptly handling cases with signs of gambling is one of the key solutions to limit the occurrence of crimes.
The Police force requests people to raise their vigilance, not to participate in gambling in any form; when detecting gambling activities, organizing gambling or illegal acts, it is necessary to promptly inform the nearest Police agency for verification and handling according to regulations.
