Quang Tri - While the ship was pumping sand from the hold to the staging area, the Traffic Police and Economic Police inspected and arrested it.

On the afternoon of June 17, the Traffic Police Department, Quang Tri Provincial Police, said that the unit had just coordinated with the Economic Police Department to discover and arrest a ship illegally carrying sand on the Hieu River, passing through Gio Mai Commune (Gio Linh District, Quang Tri Province).

Previously, at around 3am the same day, at Km6+00 of the Hieu River in Mai Dong village (Gio Mai commune), the authorities organized patrols and controls and discovered a ship without a license plate pumping sand directly from the holdings to the staging area.

The vehicle was driven by Dao Van Duoc (born in 1981, residing in Quarter 3, Ward 4, Dong Ha City), along with Nguyen Van Duong (born in 1979) and Nguyen Tham (born in 1986), both residing in Ward 4, Dong Ha City.

At the time of inspection, the driver could not present the required documents such as: professional certificate, vehicle registration certificate, technical safety and environmental protection certificate. The vehicle's storage compartment contained about 11m3 of minerals (including sand and gravel) but there were no invoices or documents proving their legal origin.

The case is currently being further investigated by the authorities.
