The My Thuy Port Construction Investment Project (Hai Lang District, Quang Tri Province) is invested by My Thuy International Port Joint Venture Joint Venture Company with an area of 685 hectares; the scale of the project includes 10 wharves, ensuring the reception of ships with a capacity of up to 100,000 tons; total investment capital of VND 15,000 billion.
In which, phase I (2018 - 2025) has a scale of 4 wharves, investment capital of VND 5,902 billion; phase II (2026 - 2031) has a scale of 3 wharves, investment capital of VND 5,876 billion; phase III (2032 - 2036) has a scale of 3 wharves, investment capital of VND 3,222 billion.
During the project construction, about 60,000 m3 of white sand arose in the area of wharves No. 1 and No. 2. Currently, the authorities have not yet had a plan to handle the sand, so this amount of sand will be gathered and temporarily detained in the 3.61 ha area within the project scope.
To avoid loss of mineral resources, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment has proposed that the People's Committee of Quang Tri province consider and direct businesses; relevant departments, branches and localities to coordinate in organizing the implementation of management, protection and supervision of the above-mentioned amount of white sand.
On June 11, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to guide units and localities to manage, supervise and protect minerals for about 60,000 m3 of white gray sand.
It is known that during the construction of all 3 phases of the above project, the expected volume of dredged material is about 29 million m3, of which about 1 million m3 is white sand minerals. Currently, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province has issued a document requesting the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Construction to give their opinions on the dossier requesting consideration of granting a mineral exploitation license within the scope of the My Thuy Port Construction Investment Project established by My Thuy International Port Joint Venture Joint Venture Joint Stock Company.
