Discovering a ring of illegal trading of 40 starlings

HUE - Illegal advertising and trading of starlings online, a case handled by Hue Forest Protection.

On September 4, the Hue City Forest Protection Department said that the Nam Song Huong Forest Protection Department in coordination with the authorities and the Phu Vinh Commune Police had discovered and handled a case of illegal advertising and trading of 40 starlings online.

Chieu mai (scientific name: Pycnonotus jocosus) is a common wild animal, not on the list of endangered or rare. However, according to Decree 06/2019/ND-CP, the farming and trading of this species must still ensure the conditions as stated in the legal origin, and notify the forest rangers.

The authorities are preparing a file to handle the violation, and at the same time advising on a plan to submit to competent authorities for approval to establish public ownership of 40 birds, moving towards releasing them back into the natural environment.
