On August 4, the Anti-Corruption, Economic, Smuggling, and Environmental Crime Investigation Police Department of An Giang Provincial Police said that they had caught two subjects red-handed in the act of trading and transporting smuggled cigarettes.
Previously, at Group 1, Minh Phong hamlet, Binh An commune, An Giang province, the Police Department for Investigation of Corruption, Economic, Smuggling, and Environmental Crimes coordinated with functional forces to stop and inspect a truck with license plate 54V-70XX driven by H.V. O (born in 1966). V.H. T (born in 1972) was also in the car, both residing in Rach Gia ward, An Giang province.
Through inspection, it was discovered that the vehicle was transporting more than 3,000 packs of smuggled cigarettes of all kinds. Functional forces made a record of arresting the offender red-handed and seized more than 3,000 packs of smuggled cigarettes of all kinds along with many documents, evidence and related electronic data to serve the investigation.
Currently, the Provincial Police Investigation Agency has temporarily detained H.V. O for investigation, clarification, and handling according to the provisions of law.
