Phu Quoc enforces 12 cases of land violations, breaks 19 criminal cases

An Giang - The handling of violations in the field of land in Phu Quoc has had many positive changes, forcing the remedy of consequences for 12 cases.

On May 29, in Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang Provincial Police held a preliminary review meeting to evaluate the results of implementing the Project to build Phu Quoc special zone into a "Model unit for security, order and urban civilization" in May 2026. Comrade Major General Nguyen Van Han, Director of the Provincial Police, chaired the meeting.

In the past month, professional units of the Provincial Police and Phu Quoc Special Zone Police continued to drastically implement the tasks of the Project. Notably, advising on successfully organizing the 8-month preliminary review conference of the Project implementation; strengthening the review and inspection of illegally built works, tents, shacks, and camps, and accommodation rental establishments; promoting propaganda and mobilizing people to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws in land recovery to serve APEC 2027 projects.

The Police force proactively grasps the situation in the area and subjects, promptly advises on handling emerging cases, and does not be passive or surprised. The handling of violations in the land sector has many positive changes; ensuring security and order, forcing the remedy of consequences for 12 cases; propagating and mobilizing 65 cases to prepare for coercion and contacting and mobilizing cases of land recovery at Phu Quoc airport phase 2.

Phu Quoc Special Zone Police coordinated with professional departments to review and inspect 437 cases of using forest land; inspected 1,228 accommodation business establishments, rental houses, temporary houses with a total of 28,834 people, including 5,700 foreigners, and no suspects related to criminal, drug, wanted and other types of crimes have been detected.

Through monitoring the progress of 78 criteria of the Project, so far 65/78 criteria have been basically completed, reaching 83.33%; of which 35 criteria have been completely completed, 30 criteria continue to be maintained for regular implementation. Phu Quoc Special Zone Police coordinated to investigate and solve 19/20 criminal offenses, reaching a rate of 95%; arrested and handled 48 subjects committing crimes against social order and dismantled 1 case of fraud and appropriation of property in cyberspace with 5 subjects.

Digital transformation, ID card issuance, and electronic identification continue to be promoted. To date, electronic identification has been collected for 3,406/3,768 enterprises and cooperatives, reaching 90.39%; issuance of ID cards to citizens aged 14 and over reached 98.1%; electronic identification account collection reached 90.13%, account activation reached 85.95%.

Besides the achieved results, some aspects of work still need to continue to focus on implementing more effectively, especially crime prevention among youth; subject management, ensuring traffic safety and order; accelerating the progress of issuing ID cards and electronic identification for citizens, businesses and cooperatives.

Speaking to direct at the meeting, Major General Nguyen Van Han acknowledged and praised the spirit of responsibility and efforts of Phu Quoc Special Zone Police and professional units in implementing the Project in the past time. The Director of the Provincial Police requested units to continue to promote the spirit of proactiveness, decisiveness, closely follow each task and target; strengthen the management of areas and subjects, do a good job of preventing and combating crimes and violations of the law; focus on removing difficulties, accelerating the progress of implementing the remaining criteria, contributing to building Phu Quoc Special Zone to truly become a "Model unit for security, order and urban civilization".
