Phu Quoc competes in painting with the theme "Sea and fishermen"

The painting contest with the theme "Sea and fishermen" is part of the series of activities of the first Phu Quoc Fish Sauce Festival in 2025.

Participating in the contest are students from junior high and high schools in Phu Quoc City (Kien Giang). Within 120 minutes, the students had to complete the painting and present the work. The paintings are both innocent and creative, expressing emotions and respect for the beauty of the homeland's sea and islands, the image of diligent, resilient fishermen who cling to the sea, the beauty of the traditional fish sauce craft village, the pride of Phu Quoc is recreated in the paintings.

Tran Hoang Ngoc Quyen - a student of class 6/4, Duong Dong 2 Secondary School shared: "I think about the traditional features of Phu Quoc and find that fish sauce is very famous. The main ingredient of fish sauce is anchovies, so I combined those factors to paint this painting. The message is that I want to express my love for the traditional fish sauce making profession of Phu Quoc and the efforts of the fishermen.

The judges highly appreciated the students' participation and creativity in the painting competition. Many paintings depict unique perspectives, harmonious layouts and vibrant colors, deeply reflecting the love of the sea and islands, the image of fishermen working steadfastly in the storm and the beauty of their homeland associated with the traditional fish sauce making profession. Although still young, they have shown their delicate and rich perception of the nature and people of the coastal areas.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Hien - Art teacher, Nguyen Trung Truc Primary and Secondary School said: "According to professional evaluation, I find the children painting very well. The color shows that they are knowledgeable about the theme as well as the spirit of young people looking at the sea and islands, the traditional fish sauce craft".

Mr. Ho Dac Thuan - Director of the Center for Culture, Sports and Communications of Phu Quoc City said: "The children who participated were very active and very excited with the spirit of contributing a small part to the fishermen and those who make traditional fish sauce. The exhibition space became brilliant and colorful with paintings created by students. The contest also became a meaningful highlight, contributing to enriching the series of vibrant activities of the fish sauce festival.
