On November 17, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province held a launching ceremony for the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and response to Gender-based Violence in 2025, with the theme "Equality and safety for women and girls in the digital age".
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Nam - Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province emphasized that gender equality is always a consistent goal in the development guidelines of the Party and State, and is also an important driving force to build a fair and sustainable society.
According to Mr. Nam, the development of digital technology opens up many opportunities for women and girls in studying, working and starting a business, but also carries many risks such as cyber violence, violating private life and sophisticated forms of harassment in the digital space.

Mr. Hoang Nam acknowledged the outstanding results of Quang Tri in gender equality work in recent times. The female workforce accounts for more than 47% of the workforce. The whole province has more than 3,500 women participating in start-ups, creating stable jobs for about 20,000 female workers. In the period of 2021-2025, many models to support women and girls have been effectively implemented, especially in ethnic minority areas.
However, Mr. Nam said that the challenges in the digital age are getting bigger, requiring the strong participation of the entire political system. To improve the effectiveness of this year's theme, he suggested that all levels and sectors synchronously deploy 5 key groups of tasks.
Strictly implement national policies and strategies on gender equality and prevention of gender-based violence; promote propaganda on safety in cyberspace; increase digital transformation, create conditions for women, especially in disadvantaged areas, access to digital knowledge, e-commerce and information security skills; promote the role of men, families and communities in building a respectful and equal environment; strictly handle acts of violence, aggression and discrimination, both in real life and in cyberspace, while providing timely legal and psychological support to victims.
Mr. Nam called on the whole society to join hands so that women and girls can live in a safe environment, be respected and have the opportunity to promote their abilities in the context of strong digital transformation. At the ceremony, the Provincial People's Committee officially launched the Month of Action for Gender Equality in 2025 in Quang Tri.
