On the evening of December 15, Mr. Nguyen Dung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Duy Chau Commune, Duy Xuyen District confirmed to Lao Dong that a drowning incident had just occurred in the area, causing the death of two 4th grade students at Duy Chau Primary School.
Initial information, at around 3:00 p.m. the same day, 3 4th grade students invited each other to go to a puddle of stagnant water on the edge of a rice field after a heavy rain in Tan Tho village to bathe, but 1 student was afraid of the water and went home, the remaining students N.T.T and N.Q.Q (both residing in Tan Phong village, Duy Chau commune) went down to bathe and drowned.
At 6:00 p.m. the same day, the family did not see the two children return, so they organized a search with the authorities.
At 7:00 p.m. the same day, Duy Chau commune authorities recovered the bodies of the two children from the puddle and brought them home to their families for funeral arrangements.
The cause of the incident is being investigated by the authorities.
Notably, in the same area where the drowning accident occurred, in the afternoon of the same day, another group of children went out to wade in the water and had their electric bicycles swept away by the water, so they panicked and ran home to report the news. The shock troops found the electric bicycles at the scene, fortunately there were no casualties.
