Lam Dong - Although the number of violations has decreased significantly compared to last year, the forest area in the province still has potential risks of encroachment.

Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee - Tran Hong Thai recently had a working session with the Forest Protection Department on forest management and protection and forest fire prevention and fighting in the dry season of 2025.

In 2024, the Forestry Department actively advised and proposed to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development on forest management, protection, development, and forest fire prevention and fighting.

Since then, forest fire prevention and fighting work and violations in the forestry sector in the province have been more strictly controlled.

Over the past year, the area of damaged forests and the volume of stolen forest products have also decreased significantly.

In 2024, the authorities discovered 151 violations of the Forestry Law; the damaged forest area was 10.89 hectares; the damaged forest product volume was 871m3 of various types of wood and nearly 11,000 bamboo trees.

Compared to the same period in 2023, the number of violations decreased by 25%, the damaged forest area decreased by 35%, and the volume of damaged forest products decreased by 59%.

The work of afforestation and tree planting has achieved good results. Most of the newly encroached and occupied forest land has been cleared and reforested.

In addition to the achieved results, there are still some limitations in 2024. The situation of deforestation, illegal logging and encroachment on forestry land still has the potential to become complicated and has not been completely prevented. The forest coverage rate target has not been achieved compared to the plan.

To effectively manage, protect and develop forests, the Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee assigned specific tasks to each unit.

Including the application of technology in forest management and protection. Continuing to plant forests to complete the target of planting 50 million trees according to the set plan...
