"Red Tay Do" receives 370 units of blood

Can Tho - At the "Tay Do Red" blood donation festival and the Ceremony to honor outstanding blood donors in 2025, 370 units of blood were received.

On the morning of July 15, the City's Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation (HMTN) coordinated with the Central Red Journey Organizing Committee to organize the "Reds of Tay Do" Blood Donation Festival and the Ceremony to Honore Typical Blood Donors in 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep - Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee said that as a result, from December 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025, Can Tho City has received 31,468/65,500 units of blood (of which, Can Tho City: 21,336/42,000 units of blood; Hau Giang province: 5,911/12,000 units of blood; Soc Trang province: 4,221/11,500 units of blood), contributing to promptly meeting the blood needs of patients.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Khoi - Deputy Head of the Central Red Journey Program Organizing Committee informed that over the past decade, the "Red Journey" with the message "Connecting Vietnamese Blood Flow" has become one of the largest blood donation campaigns in the country, spreading to 59 provinces/cities, attracting millions of participants and receiving more than 940,000 units of blood.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Khoi said that in Can Tho alone, the voluntary blood donation movement has increasingly spread and been sustainable, receiving positive responses from agencies, units, schools and people over the years.

At the 13th "Tay Do Red River" festival in response to the 13th Red Journey program, 370 units of blood were received.

Launched in 2013, the Red Journey is a national voluntary blood donation campaign chaired by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.

2025 marks the 13-year journey of the Red Journey, taking place from June 1 to July 31, with the participation of 48 provinces and cities before merging provincial-level administrative units.

This is the longest and largest campaign ever with more than 300 blood donation points, expected to receive about 100,000 units of blood nationwide.

Before arriving in Can Tho, the campaign was deployed in 34 localities, receiving more than 22,000 units of blood at major festivals and thousands of units of blood from blood donation points in response.

To date, after 13 years, the Red Journey has organized more than 3,000 blood donation points, receiving nearly 940,000 units of blood. In 2024 alone, the program reached a record of 128,119 units of blood at 341 blood donation points.

Within the framework of the program, the Central Red Journey Organizing Committee presented a bieu tuong of gratitude to the Steering Committee for the Mobilization of Natural Resources and Environment of Can Tho City for their positive contributions to this year's campaign.

In addition, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City presented Certificates of Merit to 4 families and 20 individuals with outstanding achievements in blood donation and vitamin D mobilization.

In addition, the Can Tho City Red Cross Society has also awarded Certificates of Merit and awards from the 2025 budget to 13 outstanding individuals.
