Training for enterprises to report on greenhouse gas inventories

The closing ceremony of the training course " Energy audit, inventory and greenhouse gas reporting according to ISO 14064-1:2018" was recently held in Hanoi.

On March 13, 2025, in Hanoi, the Institute of Technology Application Research, the Institute of International Law and Economics and the Institute of Strategy and Policy on Agriculture and Environment held the closing ceremony of the Training course " Energy Audit, Greenhouse Gas inventory and Reporting according to ISO 14064-1:2018", with Dragon Capital.

The course attracted the attention and participation of many delegates, including leading experts in the environmental field, representatives of state management agencies, research organizations, communities and enterprises, especially large emitting enterprises in the fields of steel, cement and thermal power production, as well as small and medium enterprises interested in opportunities from the carbon market.

According to Decision No. 13/2024/QD-TTg effective from October 1, 2024, 2,166 enterprises and establishments in six fields must conduct greenhouse gas inventories in 2024, complete the first greenhouse gas inventories before March 31, 2025, to prepare to participate in the carbon market pilot operation. From 2026, the inventory will be conducted annually, and businesses must develop and implement a plan to reduce emissions according to the quota allocated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, aiming to officially operate the carbon market in Vietnam.

The course content focuses on providing knowledge on energy auditing, greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting and practical application, helping students equip themselves with skills to become energy auditors or greenhouse gas inventories.

The course includes basic contents on energy and greenhouse gas auditing, introductions to ISO 5,0001, GHG Protocol and IPCC guidelines. Students are instructed in the energy audit process, from data collection, energy performance assessment to identifying savings opportunities.

The course focuses on greenhouse gas inventories with measurement, reporting and calculation methods for emissions, applying IoT and AI technology in energy monitoring. Students are trained in energy management according to ISO 5,0001 standards, assessing financial impacts and implementing energy-saving solutions.

Throughout the course, students practiced analyzing situations, doing group exercises and participating in in-depth discussions to improve their understanding and ability to apply them in practice. At the end of the course, students are granted a certificate of completion of the program.
