According to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety, the unit has just conducted a surprise inspection and fined a business establishment selling food of unknown origin and source following complaints from the people.
The inspection team of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety coordinated with relevant units to conduct a surprise inspection of Mr. Tran Van Tri's business establishment (Truong Tho ward, Thu Duc city).
At the time of inspection, Mr. Tran Van Tri could not present invoices or documents proving the origin of 1,296 kg of frozen food such as duck feet (22 kg), young chicken eggs (55 kg), chicken cartilage (102 kg), chicken gizzards (9 kg), pig breasts (970 kg)... The total value of the shipment was nearly 50,000,000 VND.
The inspection team drew up a record of administrative violations and advised the Chief Inspector of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety to issue a decision to impose an administrative penalty of VND 35,000,000, forcing the destruction of all frozen foods of unknown origin.
In the coming time, to ensure food safety for food sources prepared to serve people during Tet 2025, the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City will strengthen food safety inspection, take food samples to test and evaluate food quality and safety, promptly prevent unsafe food from circulating on the market, and strictly handle violations according to the provisions of law.
