On October 5, Vinh Long Provincial Police said that Cai Nhum Commune Police are consolidating records to handle 3 cases of illegal river sand mining and trading.
According to the records, on October 2 alone, Cai Nhum Commune Police coordinated with the Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economic Crimes, Smuggling, and Environment of Vinh Long Provincial Police to catch 2 cases of illegal mineral exploitation (river sand) and 1 case of illegal mineral trading (river sand).
Specifically, at around 00:30 on October 2, the patrol force on the Co Chien River, passing through Cai Nhum Commune, discovered and caught red-handed a barge with the license plate TG - 18666.
This vehicle is managed by N.H.T (born in 1978, residing in Thoi Hoa Hamlet, Thoi Son Ward, Dong Thap Province), and is pumping and selling 175m3 of river sand to people without invoices or documents proving its legal origin.

At 01:30 a.m. the same day, the force continued to catch a wooden boat without a registration plate, which was used by N.H.T (born in 1978), residing in Cai Tranh hamlet, Nhon Phu commune, who was illegally mining river sand and pumping it onto the boat, with a total exploitation volume of 9.92 m3.
At around 2:20 p.m., the patrol force discovered and caught red-handed another barge with a registration plate of DN - 1019 issued by Mr. N.V.D (born in 1974), residing in My Phu hamlet, Nhon Phu commune, pumping and selling 46m3 of river sand to people in the commune.
Currently, the Cai Nhum Commune Police force is preparing records, temporarily detaining the vehicle and the exhibits, continuing to verify and clarify the violations for handling according to regulations.
