“Peacetime Stories” exhibition brings history closer to young people

The exhibition "Peacetime Stories" brings a space to connect young people and veterans through sharing, real-life stories and war memories.
On the morning of May 10, at the Hanoi Museum, a group of students from the Academy of Journalism and Propaganda in coordination with the Hanoi Center for Coordination of Creative Activities organized the opening ceremony of the exhibition "Peacetime Stories".With the message "Ordinary stories after extraordinary years", the exhibition is divided into 4 chapters including: "My peacetime", "Scars of time", "Companions" and "Messages between two generations".According to veteran Nguyen Dinh Quoc, representative of the Management Board of the Museum of Revolutionary Soldiers Captured and Imprisoned by the Enemy, the proactiveness of young people in learning, listening to and spreading everyday stories of veterans is contributing to making history closer and more authentic to the current community.The exhibition is built as a journey connecting the past and present, between the ideal of protecting the Fatherland in the past and the desire to continue to contribute, the daily stories of veterans in today's peacetime.The event attracted a large number of people of all ages to visit. According to Ms. Ngo Thi Lan (68 years old, Hanoi), it is very meaningful for young people to create such an exhibition space, contributing to helping history spread closer to the community.Young people attentively follow the images, documents and stories displayed at "Peacetime Stories".According to Vu Thi Thien Trang (22 years old, Hanoi), being able to directly meet veterans and living witnesses helps history become closer and more vivid instead of just being present through books. “Many young people think learning history is quite dry, but when I hear people who have been through war tell stories, I find everything more authentic and empathetic,” Trang shared.Not only reading documents or viewing images, at the exhibition, young people also directly listened to stories from veterans, and also watched more documentary videos through the QR code at the bottom of the photos in the exhibition space.Families and young people take photos with veterans.People participate in activities such as writing messages to veterans, drawing peace paintings, ...Meaningful messages to young people of previous generations.Through images, documents, interview videos and interactive activities, the exhibition space truthfully recreates the memories of war, daily life as well as the journey of overcoming losses and pain of veterans, especially wounded soldiers and sick soldiers at nursing centers across the country.
