Vinh Long fines more than 3.4 billion VND for traffic violations during the September 2nd holiday

Vinh Long - During the 5-day National Day holiday on September 2nd, functional forces discovered 1,584 cases of traffic violations, and fined more than 3.4 billion VND.

According to the Traffic Police Department (PC08), Vinh Long Provincial Police, from August 29 to September 2, the whole province recorded 3 traffic accidents, killing 2 people, injuring 1 person, and causing property damage of about 11 million VND.

Compared to the same period, the number of traffic accidents decreased by 7 cases, the number of deaths decreased by 7 people; the number of injured people did not increase or decrease. Property damage decreased by about 3.2 million VND.

During the holiday, the Traffic Police force organized 428 patrol and control shifts with 1,016 turns of officers and soldiers participating; controlled 2,867 turns of vehicles, detected and made records of 1,584 violations.

Through handling, functional forces issued decisions to sanction administrative violations with a total amount of more than 3.432 billion VND; revoked driver's licenses in 27 cases, deducted points from driver's licenses in 70 cases and temporarily seized 256 vehicles.

In the road sector alone, functional forces organized 337 patrol and control shifts, inspected 2,590 vehicles and made records of 1,534 violations. The total fine amount is more than 3.383 billion VND.

The main violations include 87 cases of alcohol concentration violations, 215 cases of speeding, 129 cases of not having a driver's license, 92 cases of not wearing a helmet and 59 cases of stopping and parking improperly.

On waterways, functional forces organized 91 patrol shifts with 274 turns of officers and soldiers participating; controlled 277 turns of vehicles, detected 50 violations and fined a total of 49 million VND. Among them, 30 cases violated regulations on equipment and safety tools of vehicles.

In addition to handling violations, Vinh Long Provincial Police deploy forces to ensure traffic safety at key routes, tourist areas, bus stations, ferry terminals, large bridges and the Trung Luong - Can Tho expressway access area.

In addition, functional forces also coordinated to inspect and discover 1 case with 2 subjects illegally mining sand, seizing 16.605m3 of river sand; discovered 4 cases with 5 subjects storing 180.652m3 of river sand without invoices or documents proving origin.

According to the assessment of PC08 Department, the traffic order and safety situation in the province during the National Day holiday of September 2nd was basically ensured, traffic was smooth, no congestion or illegal racing occurred. Traffic accidents were reduced in both the number of cases and the number of deaths compared to the same period and the immediately preceding period.
