These two deaths have exposed the dangers of using electricity to trap mice. This is not only a violation of the law but can also lead to murder. According to the 2015 Penal Code, if this behavior causes death, the violator can be prosecuted for criminal liability for murder (Article 123) with the highest penalty being the death penalty, or the crime of involuntary murder (Article 128), with a prison sentence of up to 10 years.
According to Hung Yen Provincial Police, using electricity to kill mice can save costs, but is an extremely dangerous behavior, threatening human life. The government and relevant agencies need to actively propagate and warn people about this risk, and at the same time request strict handling of violations.
To protect the safety of people's lives, especially farmers, it is necessary to give up the habit of using electricity to trap mice. Safer measures such as mechanical traps, biological spurs or cat farming to kill mice can be applied.
