Hung Yen - After two deaths related to the use of electric mousetraps, the authorities have warned about the danger and requested strict handling of this behavior.

Although there have been many heartbreaking incidents, the situation of people using electricity to trap mice has not been stopped. On August 17, Ms. N.T.T (1961) in Du Dai 3 village, Quynh An commune, Hung Yen province died due to being entangled with a power line used to trap mice. Immediately after the incident, Hung Yen Provincial Police began investigating and confirmed that Ms. T died due to carelessness in using electricity to trap mice during the rain.

Next, on the morning of August 21, Mr. P.D.T (1974), residing in Tra Ly ward, also died in his family's rice field. The cause was determined to be that Mr. T used a power grid to trap mice and was electrocuted.

These two deaths have exposed the dangers of using electricity to trap mice. This is not only a violation of the law but can also lead to murder. According to the 2015 Penal Code, if this behavior causes death, the violator can be prosecuted for criminal liability for murder (Article 123) with the highest penalty being the death penalty, or the crime of involuntary murder (Article 128), with a prison sentence of up to 10 years.

According to Hung Yen Provincial Police, using electricity to kill mice can save costs, but is an extremely dangerous behavior, threatening human life. The government and relevant agencies need to actively propagate and warn people about this risk, and at the same time request strict handling of violations.

To protect the safety of people's lives, especially farmers, it is necessary to give up the habit of using electricity to trap mice. Safer measures such as mechanical traps, biological spurs or cat farming to kill mice can be applied. When detecting the act of using electricity to trap mice, it is necessary to immediately report to local authorities to promptly prevent it.

Local authorities need to step up propaganda work, raising people's awareness of the harmful effects of using electricity to kill mice. At the same time, it is necessary to inspect and review areas at risk of violations and strictly handle violations.
