The People's Procuracy and the People's Court of Cam Giang district have just coordinated with the Detention Center of Hai Duong Provincial Police to organize a trial of two key cases online.
The cases include: the case of Tong Van Nghia (born in 1997, residing in Ha Xa Village, Cam Doai Commune, Cam Giang District, Hai Duong Province) for the crime of "Illegal possession of narcotics" (Point c, Clause 1, Article 249 of the Penal Code); the case of Ca Van Toan (born in 1993, residing in Ta Bung Village, Ta Bu Commune, Muong La District, Son La Province) and Lo Van Duong (born in 2001, residing in Tram Cau Village, Chieng Sung Commune, Mai Son District, Son La Province) for the crime of "Illegal possession of narcotics" (Point c, Clause 1, Article 249 of the Penal Code) and the crime of "Illegal trading of narcotics" (Article 251, Penal Code) respectively.
According to the indictment, in the first case, at about 9:30 p.m. on December 25, 2024, in Tu Thong area (Tu Minh ward, Hai Duong city), Lo Van Duong illegally sold to Ca Van Toan a package of Heroin, 0.122g for 300,000 VND.
After buying the drugs, Toan hid the drugs on his person and went to find a place to use them. At about 10:00 p.m. the same day, when Toan arrived at Ngo village, Lai Cach town, Cam Giang district, he was discovered by the Investigation Police Agency of Cam Giang District Police and the evidence was confiscated.
In the second case, on January 5, 2025, Tong Van Nghia illegally hid 0.161g of Methamphetamine in an electrical cabinet next to the gate of the Ha Xa village cultural house (Cam Doai commune, Cam Giang district) for use.
The investigation determined that Tong Van Nghia also hid 0.025g of Methamphetamine at his residence for use. The total amount of drugs illegally hidden by Tong Van Nghia was 0.186g of Methamphetamine.
Based on the proposal of the representative of the People's Procuracy of Cam Giang district, the Trial Council sentenced defendants Tong Van Nghia and Ca Van Toan to 12 months in prison each for the crime of "Illegal possession of criminal drugs" as prescribed in Point c, Clause 1, Article 249 of the Penal Code; defendant Lo Van Duong, 24 months in prison, for the crime of "Illegal trading of drugs", as prescribed in Clause 1, Article 251 of the Penal Code.
