Import and export in the first quarter of Lang Son reached nearly 25 billion USD

In the first quarter of 2026, Lang Son's economy recorded many positive signals with GRDP estimated to increase by 7.05% compared to the same period, total import and export turnover reached 24.9 billion USD.

According to the Q1 socio-economic situation report of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee, the locality maintained recovery momentum and growth in many fields right in the first months of the year.

The agriculture and forestry sector increased by 6.6%; industry - construction increased by 6.72%; services increased by 7.32%.

The highlight of the economic picture is that border gate activities continue to improve. In the first quarter, the total import and export turnover through the province reached 24.9 billion USD, an increase of 38% compared to the same period last year.

Of which, exports reached 7.83 billion USD, up 35.52%; imports reached 17.07 billion USD, up 39.19%.

Separately, the turnover of goods opened for declaration in Lang Son reached 2.09 billion USD, equal to 31% of the annual plan and increased by 98% compared to the same period.

Local exports reached 45 million USD, an increase of more than 40%. Customs clearance activities are maintained stably at 5 border gates, in the context that functional forces continue to coordinate to combat smuggling, trade fraud and ensure security in border areas.

Along with the increase in import and export, state budget revenue in the area also increased sharply.

In the first three months of the year, Lang Son collected 7,263 billion VND, reaching nearly 54% of the year's estimate, an increase of 94.1% compared to the same period. Of which, domestic revenue reached 1,660 billion VND, and revenue from import and export activities reached 5,594.9 billion VND.

In the industrial sector, the industrial production index in the first quarter increased by 5.25%.

8 out of 12 main industrial products recorded increases, including some items that increased quite well such as cement, alloys and metal compounds, and commercial electricity.

Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reached 11,438 billion VND, an increase of 17.33% compared to the same period.

Tourism continues to be a bright spot. In the first quarter, the province welcomed about 2.12 million visitors, an increase of 10.5% compared to the same period, reaching 45.1% of the annual plan.

Total revenue from tourism is estimated at 1,910 billion VND, an increase of 21%. The number of visitors increased in the context of Lang Son organizing many spring festival activities, including the Lang Son Peach Blossom Festival 2026, while promoting and cooperating in border tourism.

Regarding public investment, by the end of the first quarter, the province disbursed 607.9 billion VND, reaching 22% of the plan assigned by the Prime Minister, an increase of 8.6% compared to the same period.

According to the report, this disbursement level ranked first among 34 provinces and cities.

Capital is being focused on key projects such as the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang border gate expressway, Lang Son Provincial Sports Complex, Ly Thai To road and residential and resettlement area of Lang Son city.

In the agricultural sector, the total cultivated area reached more than 30,200 hectares, an increase of 9.5% compared to the same period.

New afforestation reached 1,200 hectares, an increase of 20%. Livestock farming is generally stable, while the OCOP program continues to be maintained with 184 products still in effect, including 10 4-star products and 174 3-star products.

The social sector continues to be maintained stably. The province implements social security policies during Tet with a total budget of more than 34 billion VND; supporting pre-harvest rice for 3,882 households, equivalent to 12,784 people.

The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has also been accelerated, with 1,253 units started, reaching 92.7% of the plan.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, the results of the first quarter created a foundation for Lang Son to continue to promote growth in the second quarter, especially in the fields of border gates, public investment, tourism and investment attraction.
