On October 21, the Korean Embassy announced that the national final round of the "National Korean Speaking Contest - Korean Ambassador's Cup" organized by the Korean Embassy in Vietnam took place on October 19 at the Korean School in Hanoi.
This year is the third year the contest has been held and has received the attention of many students across the country.
After the registration and preliminary rounds, the organizing committee received a list of 66 participating units from 25 universities; 27 middle schools, high schools and 14 King Sejong Academies nationwide.
After the semi-finals in the North and South regions, the organizers selected the 16 best candidates for the final round.
The theme for the national finals is “The charm of Korea/Korean language” or “A moment in your life that you want to introduce to everyone.” Contestants choose 1 of the 2 themes.
As a result, the candidates who won the excellent prizes in the specialized, non-specialized and general education categories were Tran Thu Tam (Hanoi University), Bang Thi Diem Huong (Academy King Sejong Can Tho 1), Bui Tran Bao Linh (Foreign Language High School - Foreign Language University, Vietnam National University, Hanoi).
The prize for the excellent candidates in the major and non-major categories is a 6-month Korean language study abroad course at Ewha Womans University, Korea.
The prize for the excellent high school student is a trip to Korea worth 30 million VND.
This contest is organized by the Korean Embassy in Vietnam, in coordination with the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam, the Office of the Korean Education Department, the Korean Language Center in Ho Chi Minh City, the King Sejong Academy Foundation, and sponsored by Ewha Womans University, the Korean Tourism Directorate and Jeju Air.
Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Choi Young Sam said that this year is the third year the national Korean speaking contest - Korean Ambassador Cup has been held and has become the dream contest of students studying Korean in Vietnam.
"Korean has been selected as the first foreign language taught in the formal education program in Vietnam. Currently, the demand for learning Korean is increasing, so we will actively support so that Korean learners can be trained in a better environment" - Ambassador Choi Young Sam said.
