Kon Tum Although the earthquakes have not caused any damage to people's lives, they have affected psychology, causing panic and anxiety in the community.

On May 10, the People's Committee of Kon Tum province said that statistics from 2021 to the end of April 2025, the whole province recorded more than 1,086 earthquakes, most of which were below 4.0 degrees Richter.

In 2024 alone, there were 436 matches and 80 matches in just the first four months of 2025. These earthquakes are mainly at level 0 to level 1 natural disaster risk.

Notably, the strongest earthquake occurred at 11:35 a.m. on July 28, 2024, with a magnitude of 5.0 on Richter.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, the aftershocks from the earthquakes caused damage to houses. Although no casualties have been recorded, the situation has affected people's psychology, especially in Kon Plong district, an area near the center of the earthquake.

It is forecasted that in the coming time, Kon Tum province, especially Kon Plong district, may continue to suffer from stimulus earthquakes, with increasing intensity and frequency. This situation poses a potential risk of collapsing houses, works, bridges, culverts and landslides, leading to traffic jams.

Faced with complicated developments, the People's Committee of Kon Tum province has coordinated with experts, scientists, authorities and the Institute of Geophysics to assess the impact of earthquakes on houses, infrastructure works, especially irrigation dams and hydroelectric power plants.

Measures to overcome and repair damage are being implemented to ensure the safety of people and property.

The province has also developed a plan to prepare human resources, materials and means to be ready to respond when bad situations occur. At the same time, updating information about earthquakes, guiding response skills and reassuring people's psychology is being promoted to avoid causing confusion.
