On September 30, the Traffic Safety Committee of Binh Thuan province sent a proposal to resolve and overcome shortcomings and ensure traffic safety on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressways through Binh Thuan province to the Vietnam Road Administration and the Traffic Police Department - Ministry of Public Security.
According to the Traffic Safety Committee of Binh Thuan province, in the first 9 months of 2024, on the two expressways Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet, Phan Thiet - Dau Giay passing through the province, there were 16 traffic accidents, killing 10 people and injuring 8 people. Of which, on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway, there were 13 accidents, killing 9 people and injuring 8 people.
From September 18 to September 24, on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway, there were two consecutive very serious traffic accidents involving a passenger bus crashing into the back of a car in the same direction, killing 3 people and injuring 13 others.
The Traffic Safety Committee of Binh Thuan province requested the Vietnam Road Administration to direct the maintenance unit and relevant agencies to promptly put into operation the lighting system at intersections and the traffic light system at Ba Bau intersection. At the same time, urge the two investors to coordinate to speed up the progress of site clearance and construction of rest stops on the two expressways.
In addition, it is recommended that the Ministry of Transport direct the early implementation of the project to build a traffic surveillance camera system and handle violations of traffic safety and order on the two expressways.
On the side of the Traffic Police Department - Ministry of Public Security, the Traffic Safety Committee of Binh Thuan province recommended that C08 direct the Traffic Police force during patrolling, controlling, detecting and strictly handling the situation of cars stopping and parking, occupying the roadway but not placing warning signs at the rear of the car as prescribed.
At the same time, promptly request towing and removal of damaged or broken-down cars that are stopped or parked along the road to a safe location.
