Broken, convulsions, risk of death
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC), summer vacation is the time when children have more time at home and play freely. However, this is also the time when there is a high risk of accidents, including electrical short circuit - an accident that can cause extremely serious consequences, even death.
Children are often hyperactive, curious and do not fully realize the dangers of electricity. Electrical short circuit in children often occurs due to damage to the power switch, moisture, peeling of the cover, touching the plugs or peeling connections.
When electricity passes through the body, children may experience lightheadedness, shortness of breath, and cardiac arrest. The electrical current also causes severe burns at the contact point, especially the rotated electric current that can cause muscle twitching, causing children to get stuck to the power source and cannot escape on their own.
To ensure children's safety during the summer vacation, HCDC recommends that each family raises awareness and equip adults and children with electric shock prevention skills. This is an important responsibility of parents to help children have a healthy and safe summer.
Preventing electric shock
HCDC recommends that people ensure electrical safety in their home, keep electrical wires and outlets out of reach of children, and cover outlets in low-lying areas of the home.
In addition, use safe electrical equipment, do not leave ceilings or electrical wires exposed in the house. The kitchen area should be designed separately or with compartment doors or locked so that children are not exposed to the fire or gas tank.
Hot, flammable household appliances such as hot food containers, hot water posters, lighters... need to be placed in suitable locations, out of reach of children.
Regularly check the electrical equipment in use in the home to see if it is damaged or bitten by a rat. When detecting any problems such as broken power lines, they need to be fixed as soon as possible.
Education children about the principles of electrical safety, do not put your hands into the outlet, do not put anything into the outlet, do not touch the electrical equipment when your hands are wet, do not approach broken power lines (especially during the rain), do not climb on electric poles.
